Program Description

For the 2009 Ikeda Forum we will examine the many connections and resonances found in the naturalistic humanism of John Dewey and the Buddhist humanism of Center founder Daisaku Ikeda. In a series of presentations and discussions, top Dewey scholars will explore how the philosophies of both Dewey and Ikeda (See Background Readings page) can be used as resources for fostering individual and social change. Expect to encounter diverse perspectives on how the spiritual life relates to the human struggle to build a better world.
