Vincent Harding

The Democratic Spirit

A longtime friend of the Ikeda Center, historian Vincent Harding (Professor Emeritus of Religion and Social Transformation at the Iliff School of Theology) spoke at the 2010 Ikeda Forum, "This Noble Experiment: Developing the Democratic Spirit." In his remarks Dr. Harding urged us to see the civil rights movement--in which he played a significant role--as not just a legal battle but also as an ongoing spiritual quest to expand human freedom and form "a more perfect union." The day after the forum Dr. Harding sat down with us for this interview. Read more about the 2010 Ikeda Forum here.
