This site serves as a great introduction to the life and work of Daisaku Ikeda, Center founder and President of Soka Gakkai International (SGI). Rich with articles, lectures, and other resources. This site features all of the published works of Daisaku Ikeda, including his dialogues with global leaders such as Arnold Toynbee, Linus Pauling, and many more. SGI, headed by Daisaku Ikeda, is a Buddhist network that actively promotes peace, culture, and education through personal change and social contribution. Toda Institute for Global Peace and Policy Research Named for Josei Toda, second Soka Gakkai president, Daisaku Ikeda founded this organization to foster a dialogue of civilizations for world citizenship. This site serves as an introduction to the life and work of Josei Toda, second Soka Gakkai president and mentor to Daisaku Ikeda. Toda was imprisoned for his opposition to Japan's military expansion in the mid-twentieth century, and was a leader in the worldwide movement to abolish nuclear weapons. This site introduces the life and work of Soka Gakkai founder Tsunesaburo Makiguchi. A pioneer of humanistic education in early twentieth-century Japan, Makiguchi built on the centuries old tradition of Nichiren Buddhism to develop the philosophy of soka, or value creation, as the means to individual and world peace. Located in Aliso Viejo, California, SUA was founded by Daisaku Ikeda on the belief that student-centered education is the best way to promote peace and human rights.
