Sophia Robertson

Program Intern

Sophia Robertson is our new Program Intern. She supports the team with event planning, program implementation, and outreach work. Sophia is a rising sophomore at Harvard University studying Government and Psychology, with a focus on political psychology, conflict resolution, and international mediation. At Harvard, she helps lead the Harvard Youth Poll, surveying young Americans on their political beliefs, experiences, and communities. She also coordinates events for the Harvard Kennedy School’s Institute of Politics and serves as a fellow in the Intercollegiate Civil Disagreement Partnership at the Edmond & Lily Safra Center for Ethics. With a background in political discourse and social science research, Sophia is excited to explore the potential for dialogue to build connections, open minds, and promote peace. In her free time, she loves to run, bake, and explore the city.

As she pursues peace-driven diplomacy, Sophia is inspired by this quote from Daisaku Ikeda, written in a 2007 editorial in The Japan Times:

Dialogue starts by clearly recognizing the positions and interests of the respective parties and then carefully identifying the obstacles to progress, patiently working to remove and resolve each of these. It is the ultimate constructive undertaking of the human spirit. And it is for just this reason that conflict resolution through dialogue – unlike military force whose essence is destruction – holds the promise of a genuine and lasting solution.
